What is the Gilded Balloon and what do we do?

The Gilded Balloon is a year-round producer of comedy and events, but most renowned as one of top venues of the annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Gilded Balloon operates 4 venues across the city and host over 200 shows per day from the pick of local and international performers.

What is the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and when is it?

The Edinburgh Fringe is the largest International Arts Festival on Earth! Established in 1947, this open-access festival takes place over three and a half weeks every August, saturating the capital city of Scotland with a flurry of talent from all realms of the performing arts world, from comedy to theatre, dance to music and much more. With well over 3200 shows at the 2019 Fringe, this is a festival that truly caters for every entertainment need or desire! TICKETING

How do I collect my tickets?


All shows at Gilded Balloon are e-ticketed. Your booking confirmation email will include a QR code, which you will need to show on arrival at the venue. If you have booked for multiple shows, you will have on QR code that covers all of your tickets. You can show this on your phone or tablet, or print it if you would prefer.

My booking confirmation/e-ticket hasn’t arrive, what should I do?

Please make sure you double-check your spam and junk folders. If you still haven’t received it, please get in touch with us by emailing boxoffice@gildedballoon.co.uk

What is Bubble ticketing?

Our seating plan is arranged in groups of 2 that can be booked online. All shows are unreserved; our event team will direct you to your seats on arrival.

Is there a booking fee?

A booking fee of £1 per ticket is applied to all bookings, up to a maximum of £4 per transaction.

Why can’t I add tickets to my basket?

If you are having issues booking, please contact boxoffice@gildedballoon.co.uk If you are unable to proceed with your desired number of tickets, it is likely due to the fact there are not tickets available, please contact our box office team.

What is your babes in arms policy?

Unless stated on the individual show page. Most shows operate a policy that children under the age of 2 years do not require a ticket and are welcome in the venue. Our front of house team will make sure you are seated comfortably and in a seat with easy access out of the room in case you need to leave. Some shows do not allow children/babies in the room so please do check the individual show pages.

This is separate to the age guidance/restriction which can be found on the show’s page. If the show states a restriction, this means strictly only audience members that age and above will be allowed in the venue. ID may be requested.

There is an issue with my tickets, what do I do?

Please email boxoffice@gildedballoon.co.uk or call us on 0131 622 6552, please include your transaction confirmation number to make it easier for us to help you.

Covid-19

I have COVID symptoms, what should I do?

Please do not attend if you have symptoms, have tested positive or have been told to self-isolate. If you have tickets to an event, contact us and we will arrange an exchange or refund of your tickets. Just email boxoffice@gildedballoon.co.uk

Are you using Test & Protect?

All attendees are required to check in using the Check-In Scotland APP. There are QR codes at all entrances. Information given at the time of booking will be shared with Test & Protect as required.

What happens if covid levels change?

We are continually updating our procedures in line with government guidance. Attendees will be informed of major changes as soon as possible via the contact details provided when booking and via our social media platforms.

Do I need to wear a mask?

Unless you are medically exempt, attendees are required to wear a face covering while moving around the venue. Face coverings can be removed once you are seated.

Safe Spaces & code of Conduct

Lost Property

Any lost and found items will be handed into the site office and logged into a register. If you have lost something while at the venue, please email admin@gildedballoon.co.uk with a description of the item and a member of our team will be able to assist you

 

ACCESSIBILITY & VENUES

Do you have a cloak room?

We do not provide any cloakroom facilities in any of our venues, we ask that you keep the items brought to the venues to a minimum both for security and logistical reasons!

How do I make an access booking?

Access bookings can be made by calling our box office 0131 622 6552, through the Fringe Access team or in person at our box offices. Please see our accessibility page for more information.

Are your venues wheelchair accessible?

Please see our accessibility page for a breakdown of which spaces are accessible for a wheelchair and more information about access into each space.

Do you allow dogs at your venues?

Only assistance dogs are allowed onsite.
