What is the Gilded Balloon and what do we do?

The Gilded Balloon is a year-round producer of comedy and events, but most renowned as one of top venues of the annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Teviot Row House becomes the Gilded Balloon’s home and festival hub during August. In addition to this Gilded Balloon operates 4 other venues across the city and host over 200 shows per day from the pick of local and international performers.

Gilded Balloon also has a year-round venue on Rose Street – the Gilded Balloon Basement – hosting a weekly programme top notch comedy, music and theatre.

What is the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and when is it?

The Edinburgh Fringe is the largest International Arts Festival on Earth! Established in 1947, this open-access festival takes place over three and a half weeks every August, saturating the capital city of Scotland with a flurry of talent from all realms of the performing arts world, from comedy to theatre, dance to music and much more. With well over 3200 shows at the 2016 Fringe, this is a festival that truly caters for every entertainment need or desire! What is the Gilded Balloon Basement?

The Gilded Balloon Basement is our year-round venue on Rose Street (address: 204 Rose Street, EH2 4AZ). We host a weekly programme of theatre, comedy and music. For tickets visit the Buy Tickets page of our website.

Who is eligible for Concession priced tickets?

Valid for those who are under 16 years, students, senior citizens (65+) or those living with a disability. Proof of status must be provided at the box office.

What is your babes in arms policy?

Unless stated on the individual show page. Most shows operate a policy of children 2 years and under do not require a ticket and are welcome in the venue. Our front of house team will make sure you are seated comfortably and in a seat with easy access out of the room incase you need to leave. Some shows do not allow children/babies in the room so please do check the individual show pages.

This is separate to the age guidance/restriction which can be found on the show’s page. If the show states a restriction, this means strictly only audience members that age and above will be allowed in the venue. ID may be requested.

Can I exchange or refund my ticket?

Tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged

How do I collect my tickets?

Tickets can be collected from the following locations:

  1. Any Gilded Balloon box office from the 31st of July (see our venues page for more information
  2. The Edfringe box office located on High Street, Edinburgh EH1 1QS from the 5th of June
  3. From any official Edinburgh Fringe Society, Pleasance, Underbelly or Assembly ticket collection point during the festival

We do not post tickets.

Does a printed out confirmation email count as a ticket?

No, all guests attending must have a physical ticket collected from a box office.

There is an issue with my tickets, what do I do?

Please email boxoffice@gildedballoon.co.uk or call us on 0131 622 6552, please include your transaction confirmation number to make it easier for us to help you.

ACCESSIBILITY & VENUES

Do you have a cloak room?

We do not provide any cloakroom facilities in any of our venues, we ask that you keep the items brought to the venues to a minimum both for security and logistical reasons!

How do I make an access booking?

Access bookings can be made by calling our box office 0131 622 6552, through the Fringe Access team or in person at our box offices. Please see our accessibility page for more information.

Are your venues wheelchair accessible?

Please see our accessibility page for a breakdown of which spaces are accessible for a wheelchair and more information about access into each space.

Where can I find information on change room facilities or accessible toilets?

Do you allow dogs at your venues?

Only assistance dogs are allowed onsite.
