If you’re interested in taking a production to Gilded Balloon during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe please read our Performer Information Pack 2017 which details all the basic information you need to know before submitting an application to us. This will be updated post Fringe 2017, but for now is a great resource for future planning.

Why perform at the Gilded Balloon in 2018?

The Gilded Balloon was established in 1986 and is now one of the largest and well known venues at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The Gilded Balloon has experienced a dramatic evolution from its modest origins of one studio theatre with seven shows per day in 1986, to operating fourteen venues, presenting over 170 shows in  2017! The Gilded Balloon’s position as a premier venue is based on intriguing, imaginative, adventurous and international programming covering exciting dance and physical theatre, spine chilling plays, challenging drama, children’s shows and comedy from around the globe!

When do applications open?

We will open applications to perform in late December, early January of each year.

What happens after I apply?

Once your application is received, it will be passed to our Artistic Director and Programming team for consideration. If we are interested in offering you a performance slot or have any further questions about your production we will be in touch by email in the first instance.

Because the final programme depends on the overall artistic and technical balance of the shows in each space, receiving full details of your proposed production from you will help us to make programming decisions as early as possible. However we will continue to programme right up until the Final Fringe Registration deadline in April so please be patient with us!
